Petition to: Review the workings of SCC education and Babcock4S

We the undersigned would like an official investigation into the role of Surrey County Council and its consultancy company Babcock4S in the proposed "take-over" of Kings International School by Tomlinscote School. Particular reference is drawn to the decision making process in the preceding years and to the actual consultation process and its review.

Please note this petition closes 12 August 2011 so we have 30 days to sign up.

Please pass this on to everyone who might be interested and ask them to sign too.

  1. Why waste even more public money?
The result virtually everyone wanted has been achieved.

  2. I am incensed by the underhand way SCC with the collusion of Tony Ryles tried to crash this through

The suggested "merger" has been delayed not stopped. It would be naive to assume that this will not all happen again in < 2 years time.

We need a clear understanding of what will be pursued as a new strategy along with more openness and transparency if we are not to be treated in exactly this way again in 2 years time.

There is no clear way forward for Kings - they are in limbo wondering what will happen. Whatever is the best solution needs to be outlined openly and transparently NOW.

  4. Accountability is crucial in public life, and it is important always to remind those in power that they are accountable to the tax payer.
If we don't challenge them this time they will think it is ok to try do this again to us or try elsewhere.

  5. The result everyone wanted is not on the table for Kings. No result and stability. How can parents commit to a school that has no commitment from SCC. If the soft federation was given 5 years then it would work because parents would have faith in the school and trust in their childrens educational future. An Academy would defentley give Kings the stability and I feel is still the best option but seems very hard to be able to make this happen with so much opposition. All i say is kids come first and whatever is best for them should be allowed to happen.

  6. If the investigation doesn't take place NOW, we we will have to go through all this again in the Autumn, when the situation is likely to be assessed again. Acadamy is the ONLY way to go forward.

  7. What do the Kings parents want for their children apart from an equal chance to an outstanding education with excellent management/teachers. Is it to continue under SCC or do they want to go down the academy route? It has to be their choice as I, a Tomlinscote parent, have had my wishes heard and fulfilled( at least for now).
