Teachers

A big concern would be the impact on the staff, teaching is a stressful enough profession anyway but the restructure would be something that some may wish to avoid.

The split site solution is of particular concern as it appears to be a very bad choice from an educational perspective.

If you read the various case studies, there are some schools that are 'outstanding' and on split sites but even they identify the split site as something that they aim to move away from as soon as possible.  It can be made to work, but choosing it in the first place (if it can be avoided) would appear to be a mistake.  From a staff perspective a split site is only made to work because of the additional sacrifices made by the staff.  Teaching is tough enough, add in the current economic climate (extra cover - erosion of frees and ppa) and any additional stress could be the straw that breaks the camels back.

While we appreciate the difficulty of speaking out - the governors have promised to consult staff - if nobody says anything they will assume staff are OK with the proposals.

Anyone who has concerns that they feel uncomfortable asking in person we are prepared to write submissions into a general document that does not expose individuals.
