Well done to the staff and students who have managed this under very stressful conditions.

  1. This is fantastic news - well done all at Kings, espcially the staff who have stayed with the school and supported all the students through thick and thin. The majority of us feel the school should not have been put in Special Measures in the first place and Ofsted perhaps had a hidden agenda, which of course they would claim would be impossible.
But, can someone please explain to me how the school can leave special measures when there have been no new results since those of last August - the year group for which the inspection of January 2010 they decided was making insufficient progress? Without this year’s actual results I would have thought that OFSTED run very high risk of having egg all over their faces unless there is a significant improvement in the data- and if there is not what does it say about the original judgements as they were entirely and exclusively based on data. I know they pride themselves on being able to make a judgement based on what they see in the classroom and what the school's own data shows, but this seems to me high risk strategy.
I am sure that the school's own data paints a rosy picture and, as I understand it, they have had external “consultants” from 4s crawling all over them verifying and endorsing their data. It is probably this that has helped OFSTED arrive at their judgement. If they are wrong, then 4s themselves are going to look pretty stupid in August as well.
I personally, would love that considering their links with SCC!

  2. Of course the news is amazing, but it is something that should have come to a decision a long time ago! Teachers have now already handed in their notice and found new jobs because they thought they could no longer work at the place they love, with the students they have a bond with. The whole merger idea seemed like a complete waste of time that put unnecessary strain on facaulty members of both schools.

However, I'm very happy about the news! Kings was a brilliant school for me and my friends and we have all gone onto achievment. It didnt just teach the obvious school syllabus. We gained life skills and friends to keep! Kings builds personality as well as knowledge!

    Kings student of 2010
