  1. How sad that through all of this , the fact Tomlinscote got outstanding in every area apart from two (which still got good!)is not being celebrated...The staff have worked so hard to get this superb result from OFSTED and deserve to have the opportunity to celebrate with students... No critcism on CAM here,(far from it) just a reflection on the debacle which has been going on since March, and before, I suspect!!!!Mufti day tomorrow is supposed to be a HUGE thank you to staff, students, and parents, please don't lose this in the very understandable protest!! Here's to sense prevailing in the eventual outcome!!

  2. It could also be pointed out the excellent work that has been done by Kings staff to make the obvious improvements that will bring the school out of special measures. Tomlinscote teachers have done an "outstanding" job and this has been rewarded with and "outstanding" ofsted report. Kings staffs reward for their outstanding work is to be told that their school will be closed (note before the consultation ends) and that if not laid off they will be able to accept demotions and "slot into" the Tomlinscote structure.

I'm really sorry we are not celebrating the way I feel we should be but we didn't create this entire mess - we're just reacting to it.

What upsets me most on behalf of children, parents, teachers, SLT and Governing bodies of both schools is that SCC brought these half baked plans to the table for public debate without even doing the most rudimentary investigations, homework or "due diligence" of its own.

If this all ends as it should then I'm sure that any bridges damaged in this fiasco can be repaired but for me personally there is one aspect that I imagine I'll never forgive.

That is the sheer arrogance and incompetence of Surrey County Council who from day one have presided over a PR disaster of monumental proportions. They are also guilty of lying, threatening, withholding information... in fact they cynically sail as close to the law as possible while showing an utter contempt for the basic cornerstones our society is founded on (freedom of speech and democracy).

I cannot see a point at which I would ever really trust SCC to have an involvement in the education of my children the bond of that trust is broken.

  3. Sadly Ian, I feel exactly the same way. But on a more positive note, the total lack of foresight by SCC is making the imminent departure of Ryles seem a lot sweeter. I was initially concerned that my daughter was starting at Tomlinscote just as such a hugely successful Head was leaving. But I will now be relieved to see the back of him and hope the new Executive Head is able to rebuild our trust and take both Tomlinscote and Kings forward in a more positive manner.
